Wow, this has to be the best Black Metal album i've herd in quite a while. Ya know, call me old and bitter, but the last thing the world needs is another boring run of the mill Black Metal band rehashing the same old thing Marduk and Dark Funeral did years, and years, and years ago. Cult Of Erinyes hail from Belgium and bring us their debut in fine spooky fashion. Almost immediately i'm reminded of Nemesis Divina era Satyricon, with some eerie (but not too up front and annoying), almost droning keyboard and guitar atmosphere. A Place To Call My Unknown sets a very moody and mysterious tone that seem to be missing in a lot of modern Black Metal. Put it on the Hi-Fi or whatever you darn kids nowadays call it, dim the lights, and get into it. Hail Satan!!!!!!!!!

O.K. so after some thought, here's the deal. DMJ and i would really miss doing this blog, but we gotta here from you people. We would like to think we bring a little more to the table than just posting someone else's links and calling it good. We don't put annoying ads and pop ups that blogger offers to make a few bucks, we don't disappear for weeks on end, and we try to keep it original by posting a different variety of stuff ( stoner rock, thrash, black metal, death metal and so on). We both have full time jobs and family's to support, but we both have the love for metal running through our veins, and love sharing with our metal brothers and sisters. We have made a few friends along the way ( Heathen, Thee Guttural Munk, Aardshock, Haxan, Swede, and a few more i cant think of right now), but of the 400,000 hits we have had over the last couple of years, that's not very many of you that we have herd from. It's going to take a lot of work to undo some of the damage done by Mediafire deleting most of our links, but we really do want to fight the power and stick it to the man, but we gotta here it from you. We both have a lot of kick ass stuff to post that's burning a hole in our pockets, but we gotta know it's wort the risk. So how about it....do we continue or what?

If there is one record i listened to more than any other this year, it's this one. Being a jaded *sshole like myself it's hard to listen to a newer album more than a couple of times, but i ended up listening to this over, and over, and over again. Insanely catchy Heavy Doom Metal!!!!!!!

Barn Burner "Bangers II" "Scum Of The Earth"

It's hard to pigeonhole this great Canadian band, so i'm just gonna call them Metal! Just as good, if not better than their debut. This should appeal to most of the metalhead spectrum. For some reason i'm having a hard time describing their sound, so i say, just check it out, you wont be disappointed!

Besieged "Victims Beyond All Help"

Again, i realize this was from late 2010, so don't get bent out of shape. Unbelievably talented for their age, this Canadian Thrash band hit all the right notes with me. With the resurgence of Thrash, and the flood of wannabe Thrash bands out there, Besieged stood heads above the rest. Looking forward to the next one boys! Please make it soon.

Origin "Entity"

Hard to believe this was their 5th full length already. Nobody, i mean nobody does Technical Over The Top Brutality better than this Kansas crew. Hard to tell exactly whats going on some of the time, but that's what makes this so interesting. Crushing, just crushing...................

Axidance "The Road Breathes Cold"

Awesome Blackened Punk band from Russia that released this, their only full length in late 2010. This is dirty, yet emotional, heavy, yet beautiful. Hard to get into, i imagine, if you are a die hard metalhead, but if have have an open mind at all, give it a try.

Trap Them "Darker Handcraft"

Harsh, harsh, harsh. On their 3rd full length Trap Them go balls out and up the intensity of their Grinding Hardcore Mayhem. This makes me wanna go out and beat someones ass. ( This and people that whistle.)

Deceased "Surreal Overdose"

Wow, talk about coming back with a vengeance. After a 6 year hiatus Deceased return with their most aggressive album to date. These guys have been around long enough to realize when step their game up. Band are getting younger, faster, and better, and Deceased are not about step down from their Metal throne.

Livstid "Livstid"

Norway has exported a lot of good bands, and i, personally have a new favorite. The whole Crust/D-Beat thing has gotten about as watered down as the Thrash movement as of late, but Livstid kick it up a notch. Balls Out Grinding Crusty Mayhem here. These guys are serious......................

Thulcandra "Under A Frozen Sun"

I've said it before, i'll say it again, if you are gonna pay homage to such an important band like Dissection, you better do it right. A lot of bands have tried, a lot have failed, but Thulcandra do it beautifully. Awesome, just awesome!

Onslaught "Sounds Of Violence"

Once again, what a come back! The British legends return to show the youngsters how its done. This sounds like it could have come out right after 1986's "The Force". Modern twist on Classic Power Thrash? Maybe, but Onslaught continue the tradition of excellence after a slight hiccup in 1989's "In Search Of Sanity". Good job blokes!

So how much is too much? This is the question with Canada's Vengeful. On this, their 3rd full length, the boys decide to put out a double C.D. ( i put it all together...frankly because its easier for me). Sounding like a bastard child of Gorguts and Cryptopsy, this is some waaaay over the top and f*cked up Death Metal. I like it and all, but it commits the ultimate cardinal sin (in my mind anyway), being long for being longs sake, waaay too much filler. This would have been much better off as a 40 minute disc. VEKTOR - OUTER ISOLATION 2011

I think it's fair to say, 'Outer Isolation' is one of, if not the best, thrash album of 2011. Edge and elegance are wrought from the band's science fiction extrapolations, and once again they have successfully meshed the vision of Voivod, the stern and vicious vocal energy of the German gods Destruction, and the hyperactive pulse of Florida's death/thrash pioneers Atheist into a pulse pounding fusion.Somtimes, the material on 'Outer Isolation' can sound very similar to 'Black Future', but that is a very small complaint, and does not ruin this album's chance of being thrash album of the year. Vektor are one of the best underrated bands in metal, and if they could get the recognition they deserve, they could be cited as one of the best and heaviest bands in modern rock music. Shear awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have heard all year. Surely in my top 10 of the year. Musically, Farsot follow in the footsteps of some of the biggest progressive metal bands of the last decade. There’s lot of influence from mid-era Enslaved ("Below the Lights," "Mardraum") and Opeth ("Still Life," "Blackwater Park"),

Nonetheless, Insects is an original and captivating recording. Unlike the slew of black metal albums that don’t say anything of substance, Farsot actually touch on some heavy duty themes.

Thrashing blackness very much in the vein of compatriots Blutaufe, with more than a hint of Absu/Melechesh flavor and even a little bit of Mediterranean style riffing to spice things up!
The sound on this album reminds me of Greek greats like Necromantia -- crisp and clear, yet heavily atmospheric. The vocals are mostly snarled, though there's some clean singing now and again, very tastefully done.
